The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And dense gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
