The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
