The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
