The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

(5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
