The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
