The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
