The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 The night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
