The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
