The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
