The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
