The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
