The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
