The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a fitting requital, 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
