The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
