The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
