The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
