The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
