The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
