The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
