The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
