The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
