The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
