The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
