The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
