The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
