The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
