The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
