The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
