The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
