The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
