The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
