The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
