The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
