The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 you pay attention 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
