The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
