The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 By the angels hastening, 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
