The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people together 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
