The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
