The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and hastily turned away, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
