The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
