The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
