The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
