The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then he mustered 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
