The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
