The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
