The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
