The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 then he mustered 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
