He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 most exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
