He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
