He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
